The British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) have issued 'A Business Roadmap for Fiscal Devolution' which calls for businesses to be put at the heart of the next stage of devolution.

The report sets out eight principles for successful devolution including long-term investment and funding certainty, ensuring places benefit from 'going for growth' and putting business at the heart of local decision making. It also lays out three-stage roadmap for fiscal devolution from devolving additional spend in the short term through to potential powers of varying certain local taxes.

In the foreword to the report Andy Haldane CBE, President of the CBE states:

'Central government still has a vital role in setting the rules and backing credible local plans. But devolution will only work if it gives places both a clearer stake in growth and the capacity to deliver it, with business, colleges, investors and communities properly involved in shaping local economies.'
